Turkish tourist makes generous donation towards upkeep of Maafushi mosques

A Turkish woman on vacation in K. Maafushi has made a generous financial donation towards supporting the island’s mosques.

Funda Ozkuču presented the donation to the Maafushi Council on Wednesday.

The council did not specify the amount she donated, but said it was “generous.”

According to the council, Ozkuču made the donation to support the development and maintenance of the island's mosques.

“We extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation for this invaluable contribution towards the betterment and upkeep of our mosques,” wrote the council in a statement on its official Facebook page, thanking Ozkuču.

Located in central Maldives, Maafushi is the most popular local tourism hotspots in the country, welcoming over 100,000 tourists each year.
