Criminal Court, on Friday, has remanded three Maldivian actors in custody for 15 days following their arrest in a specialized anti-narcotics operation conducted in Villimalé on Thursday.

The three actors taken into police custody are: Ahmed Azmeel, 44, Ismail Jumaih, 35, and Mohamed Vishal (Roman), 29.

The Police reported that officers were required to force entry into the room where the suspects were located. Upon entering the room, officers found illicit substances openly kept on a table. All three actors were present in the room at the time.

It was noted that the provisional weight of the narcotics seized from the room meets the legal threshold for drug trafficking charges. The court order also noted that Azmeel and Vishāl have prior criminal records related to detention.

In addition to the three actors, a fourth individual identified as Shahil Mohamed was also arrested from the same room. He was likewise remanded in custody for 15 days. Court records indicate that he also tested positive for MAP and CAT and has a prior criminal record.
