The Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open 2026 badminton tournament is set to take place from 13 to 19 December at the Ekuveni Badminton Court in Male'.
Registrations are now open and will close on 25 November.
Organised in collaboration with the Badminton Club, the tournament is endorsed by the Badminton Association of Maldives and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness. The event aims to grant young athletes a competitive stage to hone their skills and showcase their talent.
The 2025 edition drew 347 players from eight countries, including 30 international athletes, competing across 733 matches, a testament to the rising popularity of junior badminton in the Maldives.
This year’s tournament will feature six age categories: under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19. As in previous years, a Para/Special Olympics category will also be included to promote inclusivity and ensure athletes of all abilities have the opportunity to compete.
Dhiraagu says it remains committed to supporting youth development and promoting active, healthy lifestyles through sport, standing at the forefront of efforts to nurture the next generation of badminton talent.
