Two people injured in a dangerous motorcycle accident in Hulhumale’ on early Wednesday remain on life support, while three others injured in the same crash have been transferred to the ward, says the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The dangerous collision took place at around 02:55 am Wednesday on the main road of Hulhumale’ Phase II when three people on a single motorcycle who were driving recklessly to flee the police crashed into another motorcycle with two people.
The accident resulted in injuries to all five people, who were initially treated at the Hulhumale’ Hospital before getting transferred to IGMH in Male’ City.
A spokesperson from IGMH told Sun on Thursday morning that all five people remain hospitalized.
Two of the accident victims sustained critical injuries and remain on ventilator support, while the other three are being treated at the ward.
The spokesperson declined to disclose any details.
The police investigation uncovered the motorcycle with three people were driving the wrong way on a one-way street when it collided with the second motorcycle. The driver was unlicensed, and the motorcycle is believed to have been stolen.
The two people they crashed into are brothers, who the family reports are in serious condition.
The accident is under further investigation by the police.
