The second edition of Adventure Up’s Island Carnival kicked off on Wednesday in Kulhudhuffushi City, opening with the vibrant Boduthiladhunmathi Bodu Bazaar, the largest market event in the region.
The carnival and bazaar were officially inaugurated by Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif at a ceremony held this evening. The festivities, which began with special opening events, will continue until October 4.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Athif described the launch as “the beginning of a major festival of sports, business and entertainment,” noting that the event aligns with the City Council’s five-year development plan to make Kulhudhuffushi a thriving, business-friendly environment. He said the carnival and bazaar aim to expand commercial activity in the city and create more opportunities for new entrepreneurs.
The Boduthiladhunmathi Bodu Bazaar brings together 22 businesses offering affordable goods, giving vendors from Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani atolls a platform to increase transactions and promote their products.
Adding to the excitement, Adventure Up has introduced innovative stalls and modern games, offering children and adults experiences rarely available in island communities. The carnival features inflatables, laser tag, battle zone games, live performances, and a total of 12 sports, along with drum and music band shows and the much-anticipated “scary cave” attraction.
Adventure Up Chief Commercial Officer Hanoon Mohamed Ibrahim thanked the City Council for its unprecedented support, saying no other council has provided such an opportunity before. He said the carnival will bring modern sports to the community and help unite youth within the island.
SME Digital, a sponsor of the event, will provide information on financing for small and medium-sized enterprises and assist in converting conventional loans into Islamic facilities.
