Suspect remanded for 5 days in violent mugging in Maduvvari

A Nepalese man arrested in connection to a violent mugging last week in R. Maduvvari has been remanded in custody of the police for five days.

The case was reported to the police at around 06:04 am September 24 and involved a female expatriate worker who was thrown to the ground and robbed of money as she walked along a road in Maduvvari.

A police spokesperson said on Monday that a 24-year-old Nepalese man was arrested in connection to the case on Saturday.

He was remanded in custody of the police for five days when presented to court, added the spokesperson.

The violent mugging was caught on camera by a passerby, who intervened to force the suspect off the woman, who he had pinned to the ground with one hand over her mouth and the other holding her throat.

The video also shows a large amount of cash on the ground near them.
