Chief Justice: Land allocated from Male’ for Supreme Court

Chief Justice Abdul Ghani Mohamed has announced that a plot of land in a prime location in Malé has been allocated for the construction of a dedicated building for the Supreme Court of the Maldives.

The Chief Justice made the announcement in his address marking the 16th anniversary of the establishment of the Supreme Court under the 2008 Constitution.

He said the allocation of the land in Malé for the new Supreme Court building was finalized on September 8 this year.

In addition, highlighting efforts to provide a permanent solution to the space constraints currently faced by the courts, the Chief Justice said the construction of the Malé Court Complex was awarded to MTCC on July 25 this year. He expressed hope that judicial proceedings for the 2028 legal year would be conducted at the new complex.

Concluding his address, the Chief Justice extended anniversary greetings to the justices and staff of the Supreme Court and called on everyone to remain united in upholding the Constitution and the rule of law, while working towards building a fair and just judicial system.
