Islamic Minister announces upcoming visit of Holy Mosque Imam Dr. Yasser Al Dosari

The Imam and Khatib of the Holy Mosque in Mecca, Dr. Yasser Al Dosari, is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, while speaking at the closing ceremony of the National Quran Competition.

“This is a great joy for the Maldives and especially for Quran students and young khatibs. Imam of the Holy Mosque in Mecca, Dr. Yasser Al Dosari, is scheduled to visit the Maldives,” Minister Shaheem said.

Sheikh Dr. Yasser Al Dosari has been invited to attend the Young Khatibs Conference. Although he could not attend the seminar held this week, the Minister said a specific date for his visit will be arranged after the A-Level examinations.

Dr. Yasser Al Dosari, who memorised the Holy Quran at a young age, was born in 1980 in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia. He learned the Quran under renowned reciters and scholars, including Shaykh Bakri Al-Tarabishi and Shaykh Ibrahim Al-Akhdar.

He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Sharia, followed by both a Master’s and PhD in Comparative Fiqh from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University. He later served as a lecturer at King Saud University and is currently an associate professor at Umm Al-Qura University.

Sheikh Dr. Yasser Al Dosari is widely admired across the Muslim world for his powerful and emotionally resonant Quran recitation, and for his role as one of the imams and khateebs of Masjid al-Haram, where he has led Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers since 2015 and served as a permanent imam since 2019.
