Maldives police officer completes prestigious FBI National Academy training in the United States

A senior Maldives Police Service officer has completed a prestigious FBI training program in the United States.

The 299th session of the FBI National Academy, organized by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), concluded this week after a 10-week training period held from July 10 to September 17.

This year’s session brought together 265 law enforcement officers from 44 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, along with 29 officers from 28 countries, including personnel from five military agencies and four federal civilian agencies.

The program is designed to enhance the academic knowledge, leadership skills and professional standards of senior law enforcement officers in the United States and around the world. Participants received instruction in key areas including law, behavioral science, forensic science, leadership development, and health and fitness.

Since 1972, graduates of the FBI National Academy have been awarded undergraduate and graduate academic credits accredited by the University of Virginia.

According to Maldives Police, Chief Superintendent of Police Hassan Shifau completed the program as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership capacity, elevate policing standards within the service, and deepen cooperation with international law enforcement agencies to support knowledge-sharing and institutional development.
