35-year-old taken to hospital after Male’ street attack

A young man was taken to the hospital with injuries on early Thursday, following an assault that took place in a street in the Galolhu district of Male’ City.

Police said that the incident, which took place at Huvafenee Goalhi, was reported to the agency at 02:32 am. The report was regarding “some people” engaging in assault.

The police stated that the incident resulted in injuries to a 35-year-old Maldivian man, and that he was taken to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

A spokesperson from IGMH told Sun that the man was being treated at the hospital’s Emergency Room, and was set to be transferred to the ward.

The hospital declined to disclose any further details, including regarding the nature of his injuries.

The police said they were investigating the case, but have yet to confirm any arrests.
