Two taken to hospital following motorcycle crash in Hulhumale’

Two people were taken to the hospital on Sunday, following a road accident in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

The accident was reported to the police at around 08:54 am, and involved two motorcycles that collided outside Kaamil Didi Primary School (KPS) in Nirolhu Magu.

According to the police, two people on the two motorcycles sustained injuries in the accident and were taken to the Hulhumale’ Hospital.

However, the extent of the injuries is unclear at this point.

The accident is under investigation by the police.

The latest crash comes amid a sharp rise in road accidents in Hulhumale’ in recent weeks. This includes one on August 29, that resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl. A second accident the very next day resulted in injuries to a 62-year-old man and his 24-year-old son.

The back-to-back accidents prompted the Hulhumale’ Police and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to sit down for an emergency meeting to identify accident-prone areas discuss emergency measures to ascertain road safety.
