Nine-year-old girl critically injured in Hulhumale' Phase 2 accident

A child was seriously injured in a dangerous accident in Hulhumale' Phase II on Saturday evening.

The accident occurred near the Vinares 7 flat in Phase II. Police are currently on the scene following a report of the incident.

The injured child, a nine-year-old girl, is being treated at the Hulhumale' Hospital.

Videos circulating on social media show a taxi stopped in the motorcycle lane on one side of the road, with a motorcycle fallen in front of it, apparently skidded to a halt. Pools of blood can be seen behind the bike.

The video also shows the child’s head bleeding as bystanders call for help.

Police have not released any further details about the accident.

Police said more information will be shared as it becomes available, and that the incident is under investigation.
