The Bank of Maldives (BML) has been appointed as a Platinum Partner of the 11th International Conference on Intellectual Advancement (ICIA) organized by the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).

The conference, scheduled to take place from August 30 to 31, is one of the country’s most prominent academic and scientific events. ICIA has been held annually by IUM since 2016, originally under a different name, and has grown into a key platform for research, knowledge exchange and intellectual development in the Maldives.

This year’s conference is held under the theme “Building a Learning Society for Sustainable Development.” It will bring together scholars, researchers, students, practitioners and policymakers for academic dialogue, research presentations and discussions across multiple fields. The strands include social sciences, humanities and education; Sharia and law; tourism, environment and technology; management, business, economics, accounting, finance and banking; Arabic language and literature; and Quranic science and Islamic studies.

A full-day workshop will be held on August 29, focusing on advanced research tools, professional development and publication strategies. ICIA also accepts research papers, concept papers, review papers and posters in English, Dhivehi and Arabic, and presents awards such as Best Paper, Outstanding Presentation and the IUM Dean’s Research Advocacy Award.

In a statement, BML said that ICIA is an important platform for the exchange of scientific information and facilitating scientific debates. The bank noted that the conference aims to strengthen evidence-based practice in the Maldives and support the country’s growing academic community.

BML said it will continue to support activities that facilitate research and intellectual development. The bank also aims to contribute to the advancement of the education and research system in the Maldives.
