Ameenee Magu segment set for repair works to be closed starting tonight

The Maldives Police Service has announced temporary changes to traffic flow in the western section of Ameenee Magu to facilitate scheduled road repair works.

The first phase of the maintenance project is scheduled to begin tonight at 12:00am.

According to a notice published by the Police on Sunday, a comprehensive traffic management plan has been developed to regulate vehicle movement during the roadworks. The Police stated that the temporary traffic diversions will remain in place until the completion of the project's first phase.

Additionally, vehicle owners have been instructed to remove all vehicles parked within the designated construction area before the revised traffic arrangements come into effect.

The Police emphasized that vehicles left parked within the work zone would significantly obstruct construction activities and disrupt the smooth flow of traffic. As a result, motorists and other road users have been urged to strictly comply with temporary traffic signs and follow directions issued by police officers stationed at the site.

To minimize potential delays, the Police have also advised the public to plan their journeys in advance and make use of alternative routes whenever feasible.

The asphalt along the section of Ameenee Magu near the Harbor Food Court has deteriorated to the extent that it now poses a safety risk to motorists. The road surface has become uneven, with pronounced bumps and potholes creating hazardous driving conditions and causing considerable inconvenience to those using the route.

The deteriorating road conditions have prompted ongoing public concern, with many raising issues over road safety in the area.
