The Civil Court has quashed the order to produce opposition MDP member Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar had been remanded in custody and was being sought by police on Sunday afternoon. Police said he was wanted in connection with a case filed in the Civil Court.
However, police have now withdrawn the announcement.
Sun has come to learn that the announcement was withdrawn after the Civil Court quashed the order for Anwar. It remains unclear why the order was cancelled.
Anwar, who is the MDP’s Thimarafushi constituency president, is very active in the party. He is often seen presenting at the party’s meetings. He is also a leading figure in the party’s street protests.
