Firzul appointed as Hajj Corporation’s new MD

Mohamed Firzul Abdulla Khaleel has been appointed as the managing director of Maldives Hajj Corporation.

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) states that Firzul was appointed to the role on Wednesday.

He had most recently served as an undersecretary for public policy at the President’s Office.

Firzul replaces Mohamed Shakeel, who resigned from the Hajj Corporation on June 23, after he was nominated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for appointment as a member of the Elections Commission (EC).

Firzul, a hafiz, holds a degree in sharia and law from Egypt's Al-Azhar University.

He had served as President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s spokesperson during the transitional period, and got appointed as an undersecretary at the President’s Office after he took office in 2023. Firzul was also appointed as the spokesperson of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) last year.
