Abdul Rahman Adam, 65, Orchidmaage, AA. Maalhos.
A minor’s statement has been submitted as evidence to establish the guilt of the accused in the murder of 65‑year‑old Abdul Rahman Adam.
Abdul Rahman, 65, Orchidmaage, AA. Maalhos, was rushed to the island health centre around 1:50am on July 13 after he was found bleeding in his bedroom. Police said he had suffered “serious injuries” while asleep in his home, and died a couple of hours later at the health centre. An autopsy confirmed he died from head injuries.
Three young men from Maalhos were arrested in connection with the case on August 21. They are:
Mohamed Wisam, 23, Lillyfehi, AA. Maalhos
Ahmed Faris, 28, Finivaage, AA. Maalhos
Ahmed Ashid, 28, Fiya, AA. Maalhos
Ashid is charged with intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon. Wisam and Faris are charged with participating in the murder of a person with a dangerous weapon. A hearing was held on Sunday.
At Sunday’s hearing, the prosecution moved for an order to protect evidence. The request sought protection for the statement of a minor submitted as evidence, a report containing information about the minor, and photographs documenting Abdul Rahman’s injuries.
The prosecution also submitted DNA reports in the case on Sunday. Reports have been shared with the defence.
The trial judge has scheduled the hearing for the filing of charges and the defendants’ answers for the 12th of next month.
