An educated person demonstrates strong character, including the discipline to put the interests of the community before their own, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has said.

Sajidha made the remarks as chief guest at the ceremony held to mark the 20th anniversary of Mianz College.

At the event, held at Imaduddin School, she presented plaques to staff members who have served the institution for more than 15 years.

In her address, the First Lady noted that Mianz College had achieved remarkable success within a relatively short period. She said education is the vehicle through which human development takes place, and that development is reflected in the transformation seen in individuals. A person who receives a good education, she said, demonstrates that growth through their actions.

“Muslims pursue education to bring benefit to their religion, their nation, their homeland, themselves and their families. That is why strong character traits are evident in educated people,” Sajidha said.

She added that these traits include attentiveness to religious matters, respectfulness in speech and conduct, and a constant desire to learn, deepen knowledge and strive for higher levels of understanding.

Commemorative plaques were also presented to staff members who have served Mianz College for more than five years and more than 10 years.
