Ali Rameez captures hearts with new Eid madhaha after 13 years

Ali Rameez releases new Eid madhaha, titled 'Eid Mubarik'.

Ali Rameez, one of the Maldives’ most celebrated vocalists, has once again captured the hearts of the Maldivian community with the release of a new Eid madhaha (Islamic hymn) following a 13-year hiatus.

The track was released as a production of Manfa, an NGO led by Ali Rameez that focuses on promoting religious awareness. Titled ‘Eid Mubarak’, the madhaha features poetic lyrics written by acclaimed lyricist Adam Haleem Adnan. While Ali Rameez serves as the lead vocalist, the track also incorporates the harmonies from several children.

Manfa launched the madhaha alongside a visually engaging music video. The release marks Ali Rameez’s first Eid-themed production since the 2011 album Thahaanee, which remains one of the Maldives’ most successful and enduringly popular Eid collections.

Speaking with Sun regarding the new release, Ali Rameez said the decision to record a new track stemmed from realizing the significant gap left by the long hiatus.

“It has been 13 years since my last Eid release, which is a very long time. I decided to release this because I felt there was a great public desire for something new,” he said.

He underscored the overwhelming public response since the release had reaffirmed the continued appreciation for his work. Ali Rameez also revealed plans to release additional Eid madhahas for next year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations.

“I have already decided to release additional tracks for the next Eid al-Adha, Insha Allah,” he added.

Ali Rameez holds a prominent place within the Maldivian arts and religious community. His extensive portfolio includes widely recognized classics such as ‘Kudakuda Dharifulhu Roalumun’, ‘Bappa Dhey Heyo Haa Naseyhai’, and ‘Zuvaankan Mila Moalhivaathan Dhekeyshey’. Several of his performances have amassed more than three million views on YouTube, underscoring his enduring popularity and influence in the Maldives.
