Health Ministry has announced that Dhamanaveshi, a public health service provider, will be closed from next month, with its services temporarily relocated to alternative locations.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the closure is required to facilitate the development of a new Urban Primary Health Care Center at the site currently occupied by Dhamanaveshi and the former Thalassemia Center. The Ministry said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader policy to strengthen and safeguard public health services in the Maldives.

Subsequently, the services currently provided at Dhamanaveshi will be temporarily transferred to alternative locations beginning next month. The Ministry stated that these services will be distributed across the Urban Primary Health Care Center in Maafannu, the Hulhumalé Public Health Unit, and GP Clinic facilities.

Meanwhile, local media outlets, citing staff sources, have reported that employees currently stationed at Dhamanaveshi are expected to be reassigned to various locations in Malé and Hulhumalé starting tomorrow.

Dhamanaveshi is widely used by the public for essential health services, including child growth monitoring and immunizations.
