Room destroyed in Hiyaa Tower fire; NDMA assisting affected family

A fire in Hiyaa Tower 8 in Hulhumale' Phase II has destroyed one room of an apartment, leaving it completely unusable, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The fire broke out in Apartment 10 on the 15th floor, causing severe damage to the unit. NDMA said one room was entirely burnt and the rest of the apartment sustained significant smoke and heat damage.  

The authority is now working to provide essential assistance to the four‑member family living in the apartment.

The incident comes amid a recent spike in fire emergencies. Four days earlier, a safari boat anchored near Hulhumale' caught fire, and on the same day, a vessel named Oxon Carrier 2 went up in flames outside Gulhifalhu.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant as investigations into the latest incident continue.
