Young woman remanded 15 days on trafficking‑level charge

A 22-year-old woman was arrested from a Hiyaa flat on Monday with 216 grams of drugs.

The arrested suspect is Fatimath Shaaha Ibrahim, of G. Nashidvilla, Male' City. She was remanded in custody for 15 days.

Police said she was arrested from a Hiyaa flat in Hulhumale' Phase II in a joint operation conducted by Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence on Monday.

During the operation, suspected drugs weighing 216.12 grams were recovered from her, according to police.

She has been charged with possession, use and trafficking of drugs.

Police said they are investigating the case further.

Under Article 105 of the Narcotics Act, possession of more than 30 grams of drugs, as prescribed by law, is considered trafficking.
