Former MP Ramiz dies aged 74

Mohamed Ramiz, a former member of the Parliament, died on Saturday at the age of 74.

Ramiz’ funeral is set to begin at the Islamic Center in Male’ at 11:00 am, with the funeral prayer scheduled for after the Asr prayer.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is among prominent figures to offer condolences to Ramiz’s bereaved family.

In a post on X, President Muizzu acknowledged Ramiz’s services as a member of both the People’s Majlis and the People’s Special Majlis, the latter of which was a special plenary of the Maldives parliament convened in 2004 to reform the Constitution.

He also acknowledged Ramiz’s contributions to tourism and trade in the country.

“May the Late Mohamed Ramiz receive acceptance and forgiveness from Almighty Allah’s be granted eternal Paradise,” he wrote, concluding his message.

Ramiz had served in the Parliament as the representative for the GA. Atoll.
