Azzam al-Hayya, the son of Hamas leader in Gaza Khalil al-Hayya, has been seriously injured in an Israeli air strike in Gaza City, the Palestinian group said.
In remarks to Al Jazeera, al-Hayya stated that one person, Hamza al-Sharbasi, was killed in the strike on the Daraj neighbourhood, while his son Azzam and several others suffered severe injuries.
Al-Hayya has described the attack as "an extension of the Israeli aggression against our people everywhere" and linked it to attempts to pressure Palestinian negotiators through "killing, terror and intimidation."
He said the political message behind the strike was to signal that neither leaders nor their children were beyond targeting, adding that "assassinations have become a daily occurrence under a systematic policy of intimidation."
The remarks have come hours after five Palestinians, including a police officer, were killed in Israeli strikes targeting civilian gatherings and a police vehicle.
Medics said Naseem al-Kalazani, a colonel in the Hamas-run police force, died when his vehicle was targeted near the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis.
Hamas has accused Israel of escalating attacks in violation of the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement, which was signed in October 2025 and entered into force on 10 October.
Israel has continued to violate the agreement, resulting in the deaths of 837 Palestinians and injuries to 2,381 others, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.
The ceasefire followed a two-year war that began on 8 October 2023, which has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and devastated about 90 percent of civilian infrastructure.
Al-Hayya has called on the United States and mediating countries to pressure Israel to implement the agreement and halt the offensive.
