Police forward case of drug network that moved over MVR 300m to the Prosecutor General’s Office

Police have forwarded for prosecution the case of a drug trafficking network that allegedly moved more than MVR 300 million over the past five years.

The chargesheets were submitted against four suspects arrested during an operation conducted in GA. Atoll on January 11 under Operation Alimagu. According to police, the group has been involved in drug trafficking since 2015.

The suspects are:

  • Shaffah Latheef, 28, Shevona / GA. Villingili  

  • Ahmed Madheeh, 33, Musikeeaa / GA. Villingili  

  • Ahmed Anaam Ibrahim, 30, Aizan / GA. Villingili  

  • Nooru‑Nizam, 35, Araa‑Iru / GA. Villingili  

Police said financial analysis showed that over MVR 300 million and more than USD 400,000 had circulated through the bank accounts of the network members in the past five years.

All four suspects have been ordered to remain in custody pending trial.
