Maldives has been announced as the Official Host Country of ITB Berlin 2027, the world’s leading travel trade show. The announcement was made during ITB Berlin 2026, where Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives (MMPRC), and Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, signed the partnership agreement at the Maldives stand in Hall 5.2.

This marks the Maldives’ return to the global spotlight ten years after its first appearance as Host Country, reaffirming its growing role in the international tourism industry.

According to Visit Maldives, the 2027 showcase will highlight the country’s natural beauty, cultural diversity, and renowned hospitality, while also promoting sustainable tourism. The Maldives will present a wide range of tourism offerings, including luxury resorts, boutique hotels, diving and water sports, wellness retreats, and local cultural experiences.

Dr. Tobias said the renewed partnership reflects the close relationship between the Maldives and Messe Berlin, and the country’s expanding influence in global tourism. “We are delighted to welcome the Maldives back as Host Country. ITB Berlin is the perfect platform to demonstrate how tourism and sustainability can go hand in hand,” he said.

Visit Maldives CEO Ibrahim Shiuree added: “We look forward to welcoming the global tourism industry in Berlin and showcasing the diversity, quality, and hospitality that define the Maldives as a destination.”

The year 2027 has also been designated “Visit Maldives Year”, a national initiative to promote the country’s tourism appeal on the global stage.
