The Maldives Meteorological Service has advised the public to take precautionary measures as haze is expected to affect the northern and central atolls over the next four days.

According to MET, air quality in these regions has deteriorated to unhealthy levels and is likely to remain poor in the coming days.

Data from IQAir shows Male' City currently at an orange alert level, indicating unhealthy air quality. Villimale' has reached a red alert level with an AQI of 158, while Kulhudhuffushi is also under an orange alert. Sh. Funadhoo is experiencing moderate conditions under a yellow alert.

Health experts advise vulnerable groups to wear masks when going outdoors, keep doors and windows closed to limit exposure to polluted air, and avoid outdoor exercise or sports until conditions improve.
