Over 7,700 Maldivians are scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for umrah during the current school holiday.

In a post on X on Thursday, Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said that 7,726 people will be traveling to Mecca for umrah in December and January.

The first of the pilgrims will be leaving this week, he added.

Umrah pilgrims now have the option of traveling to Saudi Arabia by themselves or by hiring a registered umrah tour group.
