Daytime collisions dominate Male’s weekly accident report with 42 cases

A total of 42 traffic accidents occurred in Male' City and the Sinamale' Bridge last week, according to weekly statistics published by Maldives Police Service. The majority of the incidents were reported in Male'.

Police said 35 accidents took place in Male' City, while seven occurred on the Sinamale' Bridge.

Of the total accidents, 74 percent happened during the day, with only 11 nighttime incidents. While most cases were minor, two people were injured and 28 vehicles were damaged.

The daily trend showed a spike in accidents starting Tuesday, with a brief dip on Wednesday followed by a sharp rise on Thursday, the day with the highest number of accidents, totaling 11 cases. Eight accidents were reported on Saturday.

Police noted that motorcycle vs car collisions were the most common accident type last week.

Authorities have urged all road users to follow traffic regulations and exercise caution to ensure public safety, especially in high-traffic areas like Male' City and the Sinamale' Bridge.
