Applications for Maldives’ new E-Visa service will open on 23rd November, according to Maldives Immigration.

The 100 percent digital visa service was officially launched at a special ceremony on Monday as part of efforts to modernize immigration services. In a post on X, Immigration said the application portal will go live on the 23rd to give applicants time to prepare. Detailed instructions on how to apply will be shared across Immigration’s platforms in the lead-up.

Immigration also noted that passport submissions for visa processing will continue as usual until Thursday next week.

The E-Visa system aims to resolve longstanding challenges faced by users who previously had to navigate multiple platforms. Once issued, the E-Visa can be downloaded online and will include a QR code for verification. Foreign nationals will also be able to access their visa details via the Maldives Immigration mobile app.

Immigration added that the E-Visa will eventually be used to access a range of other services.

The digitization of immigration services falls under the “Digital Maldives 2.0” initiative, a presidential program to modernize state services through digital transformation.
