The details of leased land plots in Male’ City remain unpublished as two deadlines set forth by Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim pass.

Azim, during a Male’ City Council meeting in July, announced that the details of all leased land plots in Male’ City will be disclosed within the next two months.

Two months later, on September 30th, Azim said the details would be published on October 1st.

Speaking during a Male’ City Council meeting held two weeks ago, Azim said the Council is mandated by the law to publish the details of all leased land plots in Male’ City. Citing the collection of information pertaining to land plots are complete, Azim said he believes the most appropriate step forward is to review the data collectively with all council members before making it public.

“If any of the details are incorrect, they assume that it was done intentionally. Hence, I believe there is a need for everyone to sit together and proceed with this in an agreeable manner. As such, this is what we will do,” he said.

“It is my earnest request to hold this meeting next week, brief everyone and work towards publishing this by the week after that as it would make this Council the first in 15 years to implement this which is stipulated in the law,” he added.

Despite two weeks since Azim’s remarks, the details of the leased land plots remain unpublished. Although a Male’ City Council meeting was held last week, the agenda did not include discussions regarding the publication of the details of the leased land plots.

When questioned by Sun regarding the matter, Male’ City Deputy Mayor Mohamed Areesh attributed the delay to time consumed to add the details of all land plots in Male’ City to the Land Information System launched by the Council on October 1st
